Tis the season to give – why not give the gift of reading? Village Books has begun its annual Giving Tree tradition in which you can be an advocate for child literacy, help spread the joy reading, and promote the wonder of imagination. Simply choose an Angel Ornament from one of the trees around Fairhaven and purchase a book for the recipient at either the Fairhaven or Lynden store.

The Giving Tree has been a 20 year-long tradition sponsored and organized by Village Books in collaboration with local organizations to provide books for thousands of underprivileged kids. Because of the immense generosity of its participants and caring organizations, last year’s Giving Tree event provided enough books for nearly 1300 children!

Help knock this year’s efforts out of the park by giving what you can. And remember – Village Books generously offers a 20% discount on your Angel Book purchase.

The gift of reading is one that keeps on giving, not only to the child receiving the book, but generations to come. Because literacy in children boosts their vocabulary, brain development, concentration, and memory, while cultivating curiosity and imagination. Help brighten a child’s holiday by giving them a passport to a land filled with pirates and buried treasure, a world of wizards and fantastical beasts, a jungle in which boy and beast are best friends, and more magical places that are written on countless pages.
