red autumn nature in the czech park

A quietness is settling in, the sun is retreating earlier in the day, there’s an acute chill growing in the air, and the leaves are beginning to glow, as they absorb more and more blazing color. This is October – a season in between the liveliness of summer and the ebb of winter. For those who enjoy celebrating this cozy season, fall packs much more fun than Halloween alone.

Below you’ll find plenty of events and places to ring in autumn—

Hoptoberfest

The festival includes live music from Sunset Superman, local food trucks, yard games, silent auction items, and more! You’ll be drinking, eating, and getting merry for a cause as all proceeds raised will benefit two local non-profits: ReBound Families and Whatcom Sports & Recreation.

BelleWood Acres
Picking your own pumpkin to take home and carve or hand-picking apples to bake into a fresh pie are beloved fall traditions – and Bellewood Acres has plenty of both to choose from! Located about six miles from Bellingham, BelleWood Acres offers a fun-filled day on the farm for the family beginning with the “Apple Bin Express” which takes you on a train ride through the apple orchard and pumpkin patch. Every size, shape, and color is available in their bountiful pumpkin patch for a pick as unique as each family member.

The farm also offers a selection of gourds, Indian corn, corn stalks, hay bales and mums that are ideal for fall decorating. End the day at the farm market, gift store, Country Café and/or bakery where you’ll find farm-fresh products and treats.

Fresh Hop Block Party
Stones Throw Brewery will be throwing a block party to celebrate the harvest season of a coveted beer ingredient – hops!

The celebration includes an assortment of food trucks, live music by Baby Cakes, and the unveiling of this year’s new brews, including a single beer dry-hopped six different ways. With proceeds going towards the Chuckanut Center, there is all-the-more reason to partake in the festivities. A cider press and a community produce swap will also be featured, so be sure to bring this season’s apple harvest!
