Friday Evening Tour d’Art<< Back to archives | Friday, November 28, 2003
Artwood Gallery, of locally handcrafted wooden furniture, was alive with shoppers and folks just plain looking and enjoying. Over 30 shops are open ‘til 10 pm again on Saturday evening. Fairhaven shops feature local crafts and artwork.
Up at Northland Specialties, they were serving Scandinavian glogg - spelled with an ‘L’ - out on the sidewalk. This is apparently a popular holiday drink in those countries. More samples on Saturday evening.
The tree. Don White, the owner of Skylarks Hidden Cafe, has been adding lights to this tree for years now. The annual lighting of the tree took place at 5:30 pm sharp, with the assembled crowd doing a countdown for Don. The tree will remain lit ‘til very late each night through the holidays.
In front of Village Books, Brian and Mike were putting a sales pitch on Barbara to buy a bowler hat. All profits go to support the Fairhaven Fund and the new Village Green. They have even formed the Fairhaven Bowler Hat Society. All part of the good fun we have in Fairhaven.
This young fellow tried on a bowler hat. In the end, he decided against the purchase. The folks at the Fairhaven Fund hope he will check back on the Saturday evening of December 20 when they will again be selling the bowler hats in front of Village Books.
Harris Avenue was full of lights and window shoppers on Friday evening. The rain did not stop as predicted, but folks turned out anyway for the fun evening.
And in closing these photos, here is The Tree, looking across Harris Ave and up the cobblestone walkway. Each year there are more lights added to the Fairhaven holiday decorations. We will be posting photos of shop windows and the street scenes for the next few weeks. Please check back. |
