Free Boating Day introduces many to Bay

People came down all day long to enjoy free kayaking, sailing and rowing at the Community Boating Center on the Fairhaven waterfront.  Many took advantage of the day to try going out on Bellingham Bay for the first time.  There were plenty of instructors onhand and the weather was perfect. 

It went beyond just free boating.  Rustic Coffee provided coffee and Mallard Ice Cream from downtown Bellingham provided ice cream.  Until both ran out.  Deborah, in the white hat looking over information with a participant, said this year was double the number of folks who came last year.  Each year the Center provides free boating on the last Saturday in May.  We invite you to check them out and try boating most any day of the summer.  The Bay is the back door to Fairhaven and we sometimes forget how fantastic it is.
